Weekend To End Women’s Cancers

It was definitely a weekend worth remembering for the extraordinary men and women that participated in the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers.

Approximately 780 people walked the lengthy 60km track around Brisbane city over two days, walking 30km each day.

Our Practice Manager, Toni Murphy, was team captain of the YOLO’s (You Only Live Once) and crossed the line with her friend Annette Musgrove by her side, with the support of their Crew Team.

Also part of the The Yolo’s was the Pitt Crew - Anne-Maree Martin and Aideen Quigley, who both offered much needed encouragement and laughs along the way.

A special mention to Aideen who attended the weekend despite having finished her last chemo treatment just four days before the walk!   Toni and Anne-Maree are childhood friends and their mothers are both cancer survivors.

An incredible amount of over two million dollars was raised for QIMR Berghofer and the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital who will be putting the funds raised to immediate use, in the hope to learn more, improve treatments and eventually find a cure for women’s cancers.

The event was inspiring in so many ways and Quinn & Scattini Lawyers were proud to havecontributed to Cancer Research by sponsoring Toni in the walk.

We thank the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers for the organisation and dedication in supporting such a wonderful cause.

Cool Night Classic

Quinn & Scattini Lawyers showed their community spirit at the recent PwC Cool Night Classic, a walk or run event that supports local Queensland charities.

This year, funds were raised for stroke research at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and for Youngcare, a charity that is seeking better options for young people with 24/7 care needs who are currently living in aged care.

The team enjoyed the contrast of the cool evening run and were proud to be part of such an inspirational cause.

Seniors Information Sessions

Wills & Estates expert of Quinn & Scattini Lawyers, Thomas Ashton, was recently invited to speak at the Seniors Morning Tea events, organised by Federal Member of Parliament for Moreton, Mr Graham Perrett.

Thomas was honoured to participate and said that the events “present an engaging forum to deliver some general information, particularly about the importance of keeping your estate planning up-to-date.  These events make it a little easier and more accessible for people to obtain some general legal advice that they might not otherwise want to spend too much time or money worrying about.”

“I particularly enjoy the questions I am asked during these presentations, and demonstrating the relevance of current estate planning to all of us, and the peace of mind that can be secured with a little legal advice and guidance."

Thomas advises that, although Wills and Estates law is generally associated with older persons, people of all ages should ensure that their estate planning is up-to-date and reflects their intentions.

Thomas would especially like to thank Graham for organising the events and for the opportunity to speak about Wills and Estates matters.
